The ROMs here are supposed to be used on emulators. The Commodore ROMs included are REQUIRED to properly and successfully run a VICE emulation.
DEBIAN (and Ubuntu) packaging currently removes all of these ROMs and users are left with non-working VICE packages. Searching the web for a solution often leads to answers which suggest to download the Windows builds or dive into a similar Linux build to extract the ROMs from there to an undocumented directory within your OS version (often /usr/share/vice but due to recent /usr changes on distributions this is also to become a moving target).

Requirement: Under Debian you will have to enter your root/superuser password to install to the appropriate directory using the BASH script. Check the script for yourself if you want to deal this task manually - it is just a copy command.

NOTE: VICE_ROMs is all you need to run the Debian packaged supplied VICE emulators - these binaries are also available from the source. VICE_Extra_ROMs are required to emulate additional non-CBM Hardware such as DTV, SuperCPU, CMD Drives etc. and will be extended in the future.
